
DAY 1--Mountain Village Lodge,
ArushaSaturday
At your hotel in Nairobi, you will be met and transferred to Arusha, crossing the Masai Steppe and the border into Tanzania at Namanga. Arrive at the Mountain Village Lodge early afternoon. Afternoon at leisure with option of guided walk around Lake Duluti. (Dinner only)
Sunday
Depart on safari after breakfast, driving to Lake Manyara National Park. The drive to Kirurumu Tented Lodge takes approximately three hours. The lodge is situated on the Rift Valley Escarpment with magnificent views over the Rift Valley and Lake Manyara. The Park supports a wide variety of game in a relatively small area due to the diversity of habitats: acacia woodlands, open grassland and the lake itself, a haven for bird life and hippo. Manyara is famous for its tree climbing lions, though they are more usually seen on the ground! After lunch there is an optional guided walk to Kirurumu Gorge followed by an afternoon game drive. Monday to Wednesday
Drive to the Serengeti National Park for game drives to follow some of the millions of animals and the daily drama of their lives. Overnight Special Camping in Selous tents (click HERE for a camping description), each with its own toilet and shower tent, at a private campsite. All camp bedding and towels are provide. (Full board)
Thursday
Drive to Olduvai Gorge for a picnic lunch and to visit the small but interesting museum. This is the site of Louis Leakey's discoveries of earliest man. Continue in the afternoon to Ngorongoro Serena Lodge, situated on the crater rim, offering stunning views of Ngorongoro Crater. (Full board)
Friday
Full day game viewing in the Ngorongoro Crater. This vast natural caldera, covering 260 square miles supports a year round resident population of game in an eco-system of grassland, swamp, lakes and woodland. The game is plentiful and this is one of the best areas to see the rare black rhino. Return to Ngorongoro Serena Lodge in the late afternoon for dinner and overnight. (Full board)
Saturday
Drive to Tarangire National Park, via the colorful local market in Mto Mbu village, for game drives. Overnight Special Camping at a private campsite (see attached description) (Full board)
Sunday
There will be a guided walk in the morning on the outskirts of Tarangire National Park followed by an afternoon game drive. Large herds of elephant inhabit this beautiful area, which is dotted with majestic baobab trees and in the dry season, July-September, vast numbers of game sometimes gather at the Tarangire Sand River. Overnight Special Camping at a private campsite (Full board)
Monday
Return to Arusha for lunch (at own expense) and then continue your journey to Nairobi in time for your evening international flight (Breakfast only)
The Classic Tanzania Safari is limited to a minimum of 2 people and a maximum of 8 people per departure.
