For those wanting something a little different, away from the crowds, with added interest and plenty of walking as well as seeing the fascinating Kolo cave paintings dating back to 3400 BC as well as some prime game viewing, this itinerary is ideal.
Day 1:
Depart from Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park. Afternoon game
drives in Lake Manyara National Park. Dinner and overnight at
Kirurumu Tented Lodge. (L&D)
Day 2:
Guided cultural and botanical walk in and around Kirurumu and
the gorge to see at least 20 species of plants used in Maasai
and Iraqw traditional healing, witchcraft, local crafts and poison.
Visit the nearby traditional Iraqw huts and meet the local people.
Game drive through Lake Manyara Park to the newly opened southern
end of the park arriving at camp late afternoon. Dinner and overnight

Day 3:
In the early morning, discover the beautiful fringes of the Marang
Forest on foot by taking "the elephant walk," a track
that winds its way up the escarpment of the Rift Valley into the
Highlands above, and walking to the nearby waterfall and hippo
pools. Return to camp for lunch and then drive to the Kondoa region
to the Kolo site for dinner and overnight at the Mary Leakey campsite.

Day 4:
Full day viewing the cave art sites and walking amongst the beautiful
Miobo woodland between the caves and the campsite where one can
see flora and fauna quite different from elsewhere in Tanzania.

Day 5:
Break camp and enter Tarangire National Park from the south, passing
through little visited and colorful villages and Mangati bomas
on the way. Dinner and overnight Tamarind Camp. (FB)
Day 6:
Full day game viewing in Tarangire National Park with picnic lunches.

Day 7:
Morning game viewing. After lunch, return to Arusha. (B&L)
