SUCCESS RATIOS
Jambo! Travels' Numbers
While numbers don't tell the whole story, they do help to give a benchmark:
Overall, our clients have had great success on the mountain: More than 91% have made it to Gillman's Point (18,650'-- the recognized top of the mountain and the point where climbers crest the crater on the Marangu Trail) or higher, nearly 80% have reached Stella Point (19,000'--the point where climbers crest the crater on the Machamé Trail) or higher and nearly 70% have summited (19,340').
On average, nearly 95% of our male clients make it to the 18,650' level or higher and about 85% of our female clients make it to this level or higher.
Please note that these numbers take into account all of the trails that we use and any number of days (from 5 to 10). As more days are used for a climb on any given trail, the success ratios increase.
General Mountain Numbers
The overall mountain averages are about 50% to Gillman's Point and between 15% and 20% to the summit.
(As a side note, there has been success inflation in recent years on the mountain by people who have been with less scrupulous companies who have not made the summit but who have been registered by the park as having done so. This makes the actual numbers a little hard to know for the mountain as a whole).
